14 sweet weeks!

How far along are you?
14 weeks!

How are you feeling?
Good!  Better thankfully.  Not quite as tired or nauseous and my appetite has gone through the roof!

Any weight gain?
2 pounds for a total of six pounds putting me at 118

New symptoms?
None this week

General mood?
Positive!

Gender?
I’m thinking girl again because of Scarlet - she's very convincing.  She has been pretty adamant about it and I have no doubt in my mind she will be devastated if it’s a boy.
MEOW!  (I couldn't help myself)

What foods are you craving?
I was craving Steak the other day and sour candies.  So weird.

  Do you miss anything?
I went out for dinner the other night with two girlfriends and they both ordered a glass of wine.  It was nice that they both sipped away while they ate and I kind of missed that.  I had a virgin mojito and we was ok.

Sleep?
Pretty good but my neck has really been bothering me.

Working out?
Dancing dancing dancing.

Best moment this week?
The best moment this week was putting up all of the Christmas decorations around the house - especially the tree.  When it went up, I actually started to cry (clearly I’m hormonal) but it was just such a crazy special few minutes seeing Nate with the kids working together and talking and laughing.  It was one of those tiny moments that isn’t really too ‘huge’, but completely enormous and significant at the same time.

What are you excited about?
We have a few Christmas parties in the future and Nate’s birthday coming up!  We’ll be attending parent teacher interviews with Scarlet’s teachers and then we are doing a date night afterward!  It will be nice to have some alone time together.

This week I’m adding a question:

What is the strangest thing that happened this week?
I had read a comment on my Instagram account from a girl who was ‘very confused’ about how we take our photos.  This follower turmoil absolutely kills me, so I wrote back to her (really nicely) that it was just the camera timer that I set up many of my photos.  She said she was very thankful that I had responded (which was nice) and she told me that she came across my IG account through a website called Buzzfeed.

I had heard of the website before but hadn’t really looked on it so I decided to check it out.  I went on and sure enough - there is an article written about the 7 Instagram feeds to check out.  It’s called something like ‘The best of the gram’.  It was so strange because nobody had contacted me, or notified me that this had happened or even asked for permission (not that I mind because it was all positive), but so wild, strange and bizarre to see us up on the Internet basically by chance.

If you want to check it out you can find it here:

Hope you all have a great week ahead!

LUVS,
Kate

Week 13 with baby number 3!

 Weekly Pregnancy Update

How far along are you?
 13 weeks!

How are you feeling?
Still a bit nauseous and super tired.  230 pm rolls around and I’m like ‘DONE!’.   I was super nervous yesterday because I thought that perhaps because this pregnancy has been so different from the others that maybe I would be one of those poor women who experience nausea the entire time.  Let’s hope not…

Any weight gain?
2 pounds for a total of 4 pounds putting me at 116

New symptoms?
Heartburn just started to emerge.
Certain odours have really been bothering me.  We made eggs the other day and the smell that lingered in the house just put me off.  When I open the fridge that doesn’t seem to be very appealing anymore and smelling certain shampoos and conditioners that are too sweet bugs me.

General mood?
Pretty happy and upbeat.

Gender?
I’ve been thinking the little bub was a girl this entire time until we went for our ultrasound.  Then, when we saw the baby, it totally hit me.  I thought; “oh, that’s most definitely boy!”  Mostly because it was flipping and turning and moving around so much more than any of the other babies were at this point and right in the middle of the ultrasound, the baby opened both legs and all three of us (ultrasound technician included) stopped talking and were totally silent because it was fairly obvious that something extra was present.  But, the technician immediately said that it could have been the umbilical cord showing up in the picture and not necessarily genitalia.  Still too early to tell, but based on that entire experience, I’m thinking its a boy.  Just a feeling…
Scarlet is saying 'I think it's a girl, I think it's a girl, PLEASSSE be a girl'.  It's been difficult to convince her that it might be another brother.  She is convinced it's a girl.  Both of my parents think it's a boy, William thinks it's a boy and Nate says he thinks its a girl.

What foods are you craving?
  I’m craving sushi (shocking)
Grandma’s homemade bread and butter
Pickles on grilled cheese
sugar cookies

  Do you miss anything?
SASHIMI!
Those pepperoni turkey bite deli meat sticks.
My energy.
My brain.

Sleep?
Has been great even though I’m just positioned on my two sides and my back.

Working out?
Teaching four dance classes a week.  I’m going to have to pull back soon because it’s feeling like it might be getting to be a bit much physically. :(  I love those darn kids so much it hurts so this will be hard to do.

Best moment this week?
Seeing that ultrasound.  There is nothing better in this world than the feeling of relief knowing and visually seeing that your child is doing well.
Also, Scarlet and I made a Gingerbread house yesterday while William napped and Nate put the lights up on the outside of the house.  She was so sweet and just dying to eat the candy decorations on the house but also was behaving really well so I let her have a little treat.

What are you excited about?
 Christmas decorating around the house.

Hope you have a lovely Monday friends.  Only five more monday’s till Christmas!!!  YIKES!

Pregnancy Update Week 12

How far along are you?
12 Weeks

How are you feeling?
I kind of feel like I’ve been partying hard until about 3:00 am every night for like, six weeks straight and I have a constant hangover that doesn’t ever go away.  #Truth

Any weight gain?
Two pounds this week for a total of two pounds putting me at 114 pds

New symptoms?
Fatigue reached an all time extreme this past week.  Working, planning William’s bday party and executing it on top of all our regular daily activities and responsibilites has been absolutely draining. Worth it, but draining.

General mood?
Having answered the above question, I’m actually really excited for the ultrasound coming up (and nervous).

Gender?
 I still think girl

What foods are you craving?
I was craving Mucho Burrito yesterday and when I bit into it, I was actually making inappropriate noises it was so good.  Happily I was alone so it wasn’t too weird.

  Do you miss anything?
Sleeping on my stomach :(

Sleep?
Has been alright but last night wasn’t great.

Working out?
Still teaching Dance classes during the week.

Best moment?
Having Will’s bday party and singing happy birthday with all of our closest friends and family.  It was such a special moment.  The party was incredible.  It was gorgeous outside and so we had the bouncy castle in the backyard and it was so great to be able to visit and laugh and share some time with people that we care so much about and who genuinely care for William.  So special.  Here are a few pics!

Scarlet and I made these chain link decorations as her afternoon craft project.  We had them up all over the house.

Such awesome balloons at Party City!

This is how we do goodie bags at our house now.  I grab a bunch of fun things from various shops (mostly the Dollar Store and Party City) and then I let the kids pick three or four toys when they leave.  It saves me hours making a goodie bags and I'm all about saving time.

Adult zone.  We had the white tub filled with Beer which was a huge hit with the Dads at the party.  (The wine was super popular with our friends who don't have kids - HA! and I do NOT blame them)

We ordered ten pizzas from Famoso and had finger food on the table.  Easy prep, easy cleanup.

Excuse me, but how GORGEOUS is this crew?!?!  I mean... What's even more amazing is how nice they are.  Swoon.

These birthday cards and THAT ROBOT!!!  Just awesome.

What are you excited about?
My best friend is going to have both my Mom and I over to her place with her Mom one afternoon soon and I’m dying to get that time with her.  She was at the party but it’s always tricky visiting properly at a toddler party so this afternoon tea will be perfect.

Hope you have a lovely day

William's two year update

Holy smokes.  My baby.  MY BABY IS TWO?!?!?!
(Panic at the disco)

Here is a little update on our our sweet prince and how he’s doing these days - what he’s into, what he’s not and how we’re loving his amazing personality.
A little prezzie from Mom and Dad

Favourites

Favourite Food:

Will loves bananas, oatmeal, fast food fries and surprisingly broccoli.  I KNOW!  I credit my best friend Jenny who told me to tell Will that they’re called “Dino Bites” and you have to make a big Dinosaur ROAAAR after you eat each ‘tree’.  We all started doing it at dinner with broccoli (Nate too) and it worked like a charm.  Now, he chooses to eat broccoli over things like chips or sweets.  It’s awesome and weird all at the same time.

Favourite Words:

Will recites the entire Sesame Street cast from beginning to end on a regular basis.  He says in order really quickly “Elmo, Grover, Big Bird, Count, Cookie, Abby, Oscar!!!”  He still called Ernie ‘E’ and Bert ‘Ert’.

Books:
Dinosaur Dance by Sandra Boynton
Grover takes care of Baby by Emily Thompson
Steam Train Dream Train by Sherri Duskey Rinker and Tom Lichtenheld

TV Show:
“Elmo’s world”/“Sesame Street”, “Justin Time” and “Super Why”

Songs:
He loves ‘Layla’ by Eric Clapton
I played it one day to show Scarlet what real rock and roll sounded like and they both just went crazy over it.  It’s now a regular tune in our house.
He also likes our Piano upstairs which plays various instrumental themed songs.  We let the kids run around to it after their tubby.  William is usually naked when he does it.  It’s definitely a thing.

Colour: He likes Blue and Green

Fave Toy: Train set and he loves his building blocks.

Skills:
Will is obsessed with numbers and letters.  He can point out most letters from the alphabet and any number from 1-10 and say it.  It’s a big skill for a two-year old.
He’s also surprisingly musical.  He can sing back melodies on the proper notes and has a bit of rhythm.  His dance moves are super cute too mostly cause he really gets into it.  He’s also been surprisingly fast these days when he’s playing tag with Scarlet.  He can ALMOST catch her and she’s quick…
Finally, he is currently putting himself to sleep both at nap time and bed time which any mom knows is an absolute god-send.

Personality

Will is such a sweetheart and seriously very sensitive.  He will cry for a long time if he feels like he’s in trouble with Mommy but alternatively can be very mischievous when he knows he’s done something wrong.  He’ll smile quickly and then drop his head and walk to the ‘time out thinking corner’.  He also is very social with other kids and he’s currently in a crazy copy-cat stage.  He copies absolutely everything that Scarlet does, including sitting on the potty which I’m like ‘WHOOOOO HOO!!!’  We haven’t begun potty training yet, (even though he has shown a bit of interest) for a few reasons.

1.  I have been warned by numerous mothers of boys - don’t even think about it until after he has turned two.  Just don’t.

2. I read in a fabulous mom-article that 27 months is the magic month to begin with boys so we’ll see where he’s at when we get to that age.

3. I admit that I started a few weeks too early with Scarlet because she too showed signs of interest right off the bat, but it just ended up being weeks of continuous accidents that I could have done without - don’t get me wrong, I fully understand there will be accidents in potty training, but I know it was just a bit too early with Scarlet.  I promised myself that I wouldn’t push it with my next child for our overall wellbeing and happiness.  I mean, what’s the harm in waiting a little longer?

Vocabulary
William has just started to piece words together (two or three) to make a small sentence and we are so thrilled with that.  He gets serious praise from all of us including Scarlet and she encourages him to say certain things which is just hilarious.  Scarlet was a bit further along in speech at this stage, but William is much stronger physically at this point than she was.  I try to avoid comparing the two, but it is never in a negative way - it’s just reminiscing and seeing how different both kids are.

Stats
26 pounds (two heavier than Scarlet)
34 inches (two inches taller too)
shoe size: 6
Clothing size: 18-24 months and 2T which I just learned is slightly different from the Gap sales lady.
Vaccinations are all up to date and William has serious hair!  It took Scarlet’s a year and a half to come it, but Will has already have numerous (at least 10) hair cuts.  Haha.

I’ll get a few shots of the little prince at his birthday party - that is if I can catch him.  He’s still napping once a day everyday for at least two hours (thank goodness for that so I can get a little breather) so hopefully he’ll have a nice sleep on his bday party day because I know it will be a ton of fun to have his family spoil him with love and attention.

These were the goodies we gave William after dinner tonight.  He also got a little cupcake.  We'll be having family over this weekend to celebrate party style.

Glow in the dark stickers!

(love this wrapping paper)

It was the first time I had been in Mastermind toys and I was really impressed!  It was refreshing to see that the age 'restrictions' and levels were totally appropriate (in my opinion) and there were so many options for the 1-3 year group.  I've always found that stage difficult to find.  I'll definitely returning for Christmas.

Have a fantastic day friends!

11 weeks!

Weekly Pregnancy Update
CHEERS!!!
How far along are you?
11 weeks.

How are you feeling?
Pretty good.  Tired and a little nauseous.  Nothing too different.

Any weight gain?
None yet, still 112 pds

New symptoms?
I have DEFINITELY popped and it's crazy how quickly that happened compared to the other two babes.  It's like my uterus is made out of memory foam.  Craaaaayyyyzeee.

General mood?
I was a bit down this past week because I had to share with my work colleagues and the students that I’ll be stopping teaching dance at the end of the month.  I absolutely LOVE that job so it was very bittersweet telling our news.  I’m happy that I can go back, but it is hard to leave something that you enjoy so much.

Gender?
 I’m still thinking girl.

What foods are you craving?
Veggie sticks, grilled cheese and pickles and ice cream.  Haha!

  Do you miss anything?
Sushi.

Sleep?
Much better this week!  I changed my pillow position and added another one underneath so that really helped.

Working out?
Dance dance dance.  It’s the best workout for me right now.  A few walks here and there as well which were really exhausting, but I know it’s important so I’ll try to keep that up.

Best moment?
I got to go out with two of my girlfriends for dinner on Saturday and it was an absolute riot.  We talked and laughed until 11:30pm and even though I got a parking ticket, it was worth it.  HA!  Btw, I tried to pay three times with the pay-by-phone option and the system wouldn’t accept any of my PIN numbers so I wasted about a half hour of my night TRYING to pay but wasn’t able to in the end.  It’s an easy fix though because this has happened to me before with Impark.  We just end up calling them to resolve the issue and they always drop the ticket charges.

What are you excited about?
I’m excited about William’s upcoming birthday this thursday.  TWO YEARS OLD!?!?!  I just can’t believe it.  I’ll have a two-year update for William up sometime this week!

Hope you have a lovely day
Kate

The milk felt better in a wine glass so I switched halfway through the shoot.  ;)

Weekly Pregnancy Update

Weekly Pregnancy Update

How far along are you?
10 weeks.

How are you feeling?
There were a few days this past week were the fatigue was absolutely knock-you-down-ferocious.  It was rough.  The nausea has been pretty prominent too and that’s never fun.

Any weight gain?
None yet.  Currently 112 pds

New symptoms?
I don’t know if it’s possible to feel the baby this early, but I swore I felt some movements going on in there when I was relaxing one day.  It really felt like the kicks I was feeling with the other two kids, but it just seems too early!  I know it’s not in my head though - there is definitely something going on.

General mood?
I’ve always struggled with trusting that things are progressing and ‘OK’ in the first trimester (actually make that the entire pregnancy), so lately I’ve been a bit worried and slightly moody because of it.  But being tired and hormonal definitely doesn’t help…

Gender?
 I’m thinking girl this week.

What foods are you craving?
I had a Strawberry ice cream craving last night (and we didn’t have any so I was a little disappointed), and the other day I craved a McChicken meal from McDonalds and I definitely indulged.

  Do you miss anything?
I kind of miss Sushi already.

Sleep?
Hasn’t been amazing just due to the bathroom breaks.

Working out?
I taught four dance classes on Wednesday and that was definitely a workout.  The following two days, I was totally out of commission around the house.  It was laughable.

Best moment?
The kids have been really interested in seeing the baby.  They want me to life my shirt to show my stomach and then they both talk to the new baby and pet my stomach and give such sweet hugs.  It’s really heartwarming.  Scarlet stuck her finger in my belly button and said “She can feel me touching her”.  Scarlet has CLEARLY stated that she wants a little sister.  William upon asking whether he believes it to be a Boy or a Girl has said “Boy!”

What are you excited about?
I’m excited about Halloween tonight.  I LOVE seeing all the sweet little kids and even the teenagers (I give them extra candy because teens get so bashed by society these days and it takes bravado to dress up and go out trick or treating at that age!!!), and I can’t wait for our two little ones to experience the fun.  Hope everyone has a safe and wonderful night tonight!

His makeup was starting to rub off but he just staying in character - for a fair amount of time afterwards.  It was sooooo funny.  We really love Halloween.

This is the creepiest pic of Nate EVVVVVVEEEER but I just kill myself laughing when I look at it.

Weekly Pregnancy Update - Baby #3!

After finding out I was pregnant with each of the babies - I purchased one little bunny for that babe as their 'first stuffy toy'.

 Weekly Pregnancy Update

How far along are you?
We’re nine weeks pregnant and I can’t believe I’m going to be writing these again!  It actually feels surreal in a really good way.

How are you feeling?
Pretty good!  Not too nauseous which is the best and very different from the other pregnancies.  I’m tired but it’s manageable with naps (which I have almost everyday).

Any weight gain?
None yet.  Starting at 112 and still at 112.

New symptoms?
A bit of bloating.  Regular pants are getting a little snug and I’ve been wearing leggings religiously.

General mood?
I’m so thrilled and so is Nate.  We wanted to try for a third and it literally happened the first month!  This makes me think it’s another boy.

Gender?
Although, seeing the ultrasound, I was getting a very strong girl vibe so we’ll just have to see.  We’re definitely going to find out the gender :)

What foods are you craving?
Chips!  Salty stuff.

  Do you miss anything?
I miss the sun!  It’s been super foggy and ‘gross’ in Calgary for the most part.  I’m trying hard not to pay too much attention to it, but it’s starting to bug me a little.  Fog feels a little claustrophobic and if you don’t already know - I struggle pretty badly with that phobia.

Sleep?
I’m still on my stomach most of the time which is good but I know that will stop soon cause I can already feel a bump down there.

Working out?
My goal is to take it easy with low impact workouts a few times a week.

Best moment?
Seeing the baby’s heartbeat during the ultrasound.  I can’t explain the joy you feel when you see it - even after the third time.  It’s just such a blessing and a gift.  I bawled right in the room with the ultrasound technician (of course) and Nate just squeezed my hand and smiled.  Then he said - ‘So, now we need a new bigger vehicle…’

What are you excited about?
It’s funny but I’m really excited about taking bump pics again.  I’m going to hire a PROPER professional photographer this time because that is my one regret from the previous pregnancies.  I never did it!  I always fell back on my self-timer on the camera and I’ll still do that this time, but I would really like some gorgeous professional maternity shots.

Hope everyone has a great week!  See you every Monday!
Kate

WE’RE PREGNANT…AGAIN!!!

Oh man friends, it's happening!!!

As I sit down to write this post I’m actually grinning and giggling at the same time.  Partly because if I could have told myself four or five years ago to stop worrying, chill out - everything will be ok, you CAN and WILL get pregnant…(multiple times) that would have helped me immensely.   I’m also giddy because my heart is just bursting and I do find it very interesting how life turns out.  For those of you who don't know - this is actually our fourth pregnancy.

The short version of our story is that we were unable to conceive for two years.  When we finally did, we lost our first born at the end of the first trimester.  It was awful (totally debilitating for me) but we picked ourselves back up and started all over again.  After another year of trying, we conceived Scarlet and I was the most paranoid pregnant woman on the face of the planet.  After Scarlet was born, we thought - well we better get on the next one so it took so long to get our first - and then BAM!  First month of trying - pregnant.  Well, that basically happened with this third baby.  We agreed we really wanted to have another child and we pulled the goalie so to speak, and WAMMO! First month of trying.  So, things just happen for a reason I guess and it’s a totally beautiful thing.  Someone once told me that if I hadn’t gone through the miscarriage, I wouldn’t have the current angel children that I do now and that has always really stuck with me.

We are so thrilled (and honestly terrified), but we are taking it one day at a time.  The kids both knew we were pregnant before we did.  (Here’s a freaky story).  Scarlet was looking at me strangely in the eyes one morning and she said ‘Mommy, I think there is a baby in your tummy.  Is there?’ and I answered ‘Ummmm, I’m not sure’.  I turned to William and said, ‘What do you think William?’  He walked right up to me, lifted my shirt, pointed at my belly button and nodded his head up and down vigorously.  They both toddled off into the other room talking and babbling about the ‘new baby’.  It was still too early to take a pregnancy test so I waited a week and got an ‘early detector’ one and sure enough - the kids were right.

SUPER WEIRD!

We are due in May but knowing how my babies chill I wouldn’t be surprised if it was June.

I’ll be trying my be to do weekly pregnancy updates every Monday so check back if you’d like to see the progress and development of our third babe!

Just so you know - that is totally trippy to write ;)

Have a lovely Weekend Friends

XOXO

It's US!!!

One of the many reasons I really enjoy social media forums like Instagram is because you get to ‘meet’ kind, caring, creative and giving people from all over the world.  Most recently I came into contact with a young artist named Lacee Swan (@laceeswan).  This lovely human took the time to create a portrait of our little clan of four based off of our New York picture and then she sent it to me - free of charge and full of love.  I am absolutely shocked at her talent and her kindness.  Thanks again so much Lacee!

I am doing some MAJOR catching up on laundry from our trip to Vancouver, a few blog posts, choreography, halloween prep and of course working off that apple pie from thanksgiving dinner up at the cabin with Nate’s folks and my parents.  It was lovely, and it even snowed!  Ha ha.  Hope you all have a fabulous week ahead.

Huge Love,
Kate

We LOVE New York

It’s difficult to describe NYC.

If you’ve been there, you’ll know that it can feel manic, tense and then happily pleasant all in a matter of a minute.  It’s like you’re rushing to get somewhere and you are constantly interrupted along the way by people, art, culture, music, performances, poverty, riches, history - all of which makes things very stressful and confusing but in the most beautiful way that you don’t care if you end up being late because what you have currently experienced was so mind-blowing that you don’t know if the destination you originally had in mind will be just as amazing as what you’re immediately experiencing.

That was a run-on sentence, I’m keeping it that way for a reason.

I always feel like that in NYC.  Like a glorious never ending run-on sentence.

We had a full (and I mean jam-packed to the brim) week in the city that never sleeps.  First, my brother’s wedding which was just the most beautiful day and memory for us and our family.  I can’t say that I have ever seen such a gorgeous wedding couple before and the bridal party was just jaw-droopingly beautiful.  I got to go upstairs and take pics of the girls getting ready on the morning of the wedding and it was so very special.

After the wedding, we toured the city for a few extra days both with my parents and then as a family of four.  We saw the MoMA, Grand Central Station, The Lincoln Centre, An Opera performance (Les PÊCHEURS de PERLES), Times Square, The Brooklyn Bridge, The Statue of Liberty, the city centre, the Daniel Wellington offices (hehe), The Plaza, Bryant Park, Central Park, Soho, Tribeca, 9/11 memorial and we rode the subway with the kids and the double stroller!   I was absolutely bagged getting home every night because our days were so hectic - but in a good way.

I can’t wait to return when the kids are a bit older.  I’m absolutely DYING to take them to see some shows, but I know they won’t appreciate them at this point in their lives.

Hope you enjoy the pics!  Happy Wednesday friends!
