While watching a slightly suggestive movie with me the other night, my loving, gorgeous, down-to-earth hubby felt he had to share some of his thoughts out loud.

These are his comments, word for word, while watching.  I died...(of laughter).  The movie was pretty bad, but his reaction to it and commentary made it so much better. I read the books a few years ago and was curious about the cast / set / prose - if any.  Can you guess which movie?

NATE:

'That’s not masking tape that’s duct tape.'

'He sits in the front seat and has somebody else drives for him?  That’s ridiculous… who is this guy?'

'I’m gonna get a three piece grey suit'

'Who even owns a flip phone?'

'"Necrophilia’s not my thing" - That’s funny'

'Nice helicopter, I'll give him that...'

(To the characters in the movie) 'Hey guys.  You should turn the lights on cause I’m pretty sure you can’t read that.'

'That’s it?  Really?'

Soooooooo?  Can you guess what we watched?

If you guessed 50 Shades of Grey bravo!

But as mentioned, the movie (and the books for the matter) were fairly underwhelming.  But as a serious tribute to the assumption that the colour grey plus the bedroom plus a gorgeous man without a shirt on equals bliss - here are a few pictures in honour of that idea.

Happy Monday friends!

Datey date night with Natey Nate!

Valentine’s day was a good three months ago, but it was only this past weekend that I was able to relish in my gift from my hubby.  He knows I love and adore the theatre, ballet, opera - basically anything artistic.  But perhaps one of my all time favourites is attending Cirque du Soleil.

I received two tickets for the April performance and was counting down the days till we got to go out together.  It was WELL worth the wait!  I was so impressed with the flexibility, the characters, the creativity, the costumes, the set, just everything.  It blew my mind.  I was a sneaky little audience member and snuck a few pics of a trampoline act.  The reason it looks like the performers are so close is because we were in the second row!  Amazing and terrifying when they were literally just feet away from bouncing right on top of our heads.  Haha.  My amazing parents came over to babysit the babies and Nate and I had a night out on the town.   It felt incredible because it so rarely happens anymore.  Here’s to more date nights!!!

Our seats were VERY close

This is looking WAY up at the top of the tent

And these are the 'cheesy couple' poses that we took before heading out...
Nate said he was blinking when this pic was taken, but I think he was just feeling the wine.

Hope you all get some time with your special someone this week.  Have a wonderful week!

MEXICAN DAY DATE!

Who doesn’t LOVE a day date?  I mean, the kids are both napping soundly, Grammy and Grandpa are happily watching the monitors for a few hours and what do Mommy and Daddy Weilz decide to do for the afternoon?!  You guessed it.  Get day drunk!  Haha.  Just kidding.  Well - we did have a few drinks but obviously we were very responsible.  (Cough).

But that’s not all folks.  We went for lunch outside of the resort (gasp), we went for a dip in the pool (wha?!) and we finished off with a very energetic and flirtatious swim in the ocean (hubba hubba).  Nuff said.

In the ‘Travel’ section, there are a few pics of Nate and I re-connecting during one of the days.  We also got a Date night but unfortunately I was so pumped about it all that I totally forgot to bring my cell phone or my camera.  Oh well - I’ll have the memories in my head.  Hope you enjoy!

Halloween!

We really got into the spirit this year and boy was it fun.  Scarlet didn’t really have a clue about what was going on and reluctantly put on the 101 Dalmatians costume just long enough so that we could snap a few pics and be done with it, but I LOVED getting into the spooky theme and scaring the little kids that came to the door.  It’s was just so much fun!
Probably the only shot Scarlet actually said: 'Cheese!' and she's still looking away at the t.v

Here are a few shots of our night.  We didn’t end up going out to get any candy for Scarlet, but she hasn’t tried any in her entire lifetime, so I know she didn't know what was missing in the evening.  We’ll definitely take her out next year (and I already have ideas about what I want to do - especially with our baby boy who will be about a year old at that time…YIKES).

Nate and I were getting into the characters, Scarlet, not so much...

But want to hear the scariest part about it all?!

This halloween morning, Nate and I went to the hospital to choose a date
 FOR BABY NUMBER TWO!!!
I’m going to keep you friends guessing and not give it away.  I just feel like I already share so much about our lives that it will be nice to surprise everyone with the date when it actually happens.  Hint: It is NOT far away ;) and correlates chronologically with all of the other family member’s birthday numbers which is really amazing and wild all at the same time.  So, if you know mine, Nate's and Scarlet's date, you can probably figure out baby boys date too.  It's awesome!

Hope Everyone had a safe and enjoyable Halloween!!!

A few Instagram features!

Moments in the sun - a huge and flattering recognition.  I took this shot of Nate and Scarlet at the Calgary Corn Maze when we went a little while ago.  It was so tricky trying to get just the two of them in the frame because the corn maze was overflowing with local families.  But it all worked out since it forced me to take the pic from a really jagged angle and low and behold, it was chosen as a feature picture on this massively successful account!

#forforever

These next two were scouted out by #jj editors for the JoshJohnson account.  Although they weren’t chosen to be featured on the actual JJ account, I was still so happy to be ‘headhunted’ by these two artists/editors.  We're top left on the second one.

Have a fantastic week everyone!

Kinda lucky...

But in all fairness I am at yet another rough point in the pregnancy and I’ve been feeling ‘off’ (and complaining about it all) so to get these autumn flowers from the hubby was a sweet surprise - a fabulous pick-me-up.  Thank goodness for understanding and loving men.

I took these beauties outside to get the true natural lighting and colours.  These pics aren't edited in anyway so those hues are accurate.  GORGEOUS!
They don't really smell, but I'm MORE than ok with that.  Sometimes the scent of certain flowers is way too overpowering for me.  These are really more just to look at.

Have a fantastic weekend!!!

Anything boys do, you can do too!

I want Scarlet to grow up with the post title notion ingrained in her head, so I sent her outside to go and finish building the deck with Daddy yesterday morning.

Way too often (especially when I taught high school) I noticed females shying away from activities because typically they were ‘male’ oriented.  BRUTAL!  I want Scar to learn you can be absolutely anything you want to be - a girly girl, a tomboy, a literary historian, a brain scientist; but just know and understand that anything a boy can do, you can do too.  Math, politics, construction work, taking out the garbage, firefighting, ANYTHING!  If you’re determined and want to, get on it girl!  No limitations.

Construction Chick.

Heritage Park

Hell on Wheels - one of our new favourite shows on Netflix.  That's what sparked my interest in
Heritage Park again.
Four of my former theatre students from Central Memorial (Sarah Troyer, Shae Keebler, Meredith Pritchard and Kayley Bruce) have been featured on this gorgeous and suspenseful show.  I was so PROUD!  The show just got both Nate and I interesting in checking out one of our cities great historical sites, which ALSO btw had some scenes from the show filmed right on site!
So Awesome.
As promised here are a few pictures of our fun morning:

Waving to the train as it goes by.

But there are also PLANES!

The Haunted house at Heritage Park.  It really is haunted.
Pretty during the day - terrifying at night.

In the little tiny kitchen.

I LOVE this shot of Scar.  Creepy and cute at the same time.  Taken in the haunted house kitchen.

Room on the second floor of the house.

This just LOOKS haunted.

Yah - don't want to be in this room late at night.  Thanks...

And we're out of here.

 RUN SCARLET!
Gorgeous girl and handsome hunny!  I'm a lucky lady.

Main street where some of Hell on Wheels was filmed!

I thought this was cute.  Strollers laced up vs horses.

The old General Store

CANDY SHOPPE!  Scarlet and Nate didn't come in because we thought she might pull an entire jar of candy down onto the floor.

Hearing a real train 'CHO-CHOO!' for the first time.  We were both looking at Daddy, but the sound startled us a bit.  I was still a little jumpy from the house.
