Mommy Daughter time

We have the best time.

It can be hard with two kiddos to find time to commit to quality alone time with each of them separately.  For example, we do almost everything as either a trio or a foursome (with Daddy) so getting one on one time with Scarlet or William is difficult.

Luckily, we are in a nice groove right now where William sleeps for a solid hour, (sometimes more) during the day at around 11 am.  This is the time when Scarlet and I paint, dance, play dress up, practice catch, work on her upper case letters, read her ‘big-kid books’ and even bake.  It’s also a chance to set up my friendly timer and tripod and just go to town with fun pics.

Here are a few shots that happened to work out when she and I were messing around and just being girly.  Hope you enjoy and happy Monday everyone!!!  Now, I really need to get to packing!
I.  Hate.  Packing.

Taking a second to smell the beauties from Daddy.

She didn't like the Robots in the Popular Science mag too much.

Valentines!

Walking to our restaurant - immmm - pink and purple for V-day!?!?!  Perfect perfect perfect.

The Valentine’s Day Date.  Thank goodness we were even able to get out alone (without kids), seriously such a biggie when there are two around - I don’t know how mommas with more than two do it, and/or single moms.  Props to the enth degree.  Like for reals.

But tonight we went to Starfishbelly which was recommended to me by my hairdresser Lisa from Lavish and it did not disappoint!  We were surprised by how ‘downtown’ the inside of the restaurant felt - even though it was just five minutes away from our pad in suburban land.  The food and wine were not quite fine dining (which is totally good with me cause I usually spill it all over myself anyway) but it was polished and refined.  I was conflicted with the Bore shoulder Gnocchi vs the Mushroom risotto and ended up making a last minute switch for a gorgeous steak that caught my eye in the final seconds before the server came around.  We started with a spicy tuna tartare and didn’t end up getting any dessert because we were just so satisfied.

Afterwards, we walked around the restaurant (seriously have to come back to take better pics with my big girl camera) and just talked and laughed until it was time to go back home.  I received some gorgeous rare roses (that bloomed so large they were as big as my hand!) and a sentimental card, some pretty girly lingerie that I actually picked out.  HA!  What can I say?  I'm picky with the lacey stuff.

Anywho, it was such a lovely evening.  Hope everyone enjoyed their special love day too.
My handsome hubby Valentine.

Boys...

It was SOOO gorgeous out for Februrary!!!  We didn't even need jackets today.

Getting a little bit fussy.

I honestly never really thought about matching my son and my daughter in similar clothing.  It wasn't really a notion that had crossed my mind.  But lately I'm so into it!!!  I found these adorable little matching outfits at HnM and Zara and just bought all the boy versions and made Scarlet's girly (pink deers on her sneakers, white hair bow) and VOILA!  Done.  Unfortunately, I think I may have a new problem...

Love Day Project

I've always felt a little indifferent about Valentine's Day to be honest.  I hate to admit it, but I guess it had to do with whether or not I was single at the time (way wayyyyyy back before I was married), as well as the whole commercial 'business' of having to buy things for loved ones in order to show them how much you love them.  That didn't always sit well me.  But, I usually did - and still do - purchase a few chocolate treats, maybe a stuffed animal or two and a small gift for Nate.

But last year, I saw the sweetest idea about writing love notes to your little ones each year on Valentines day.   This momma (of four) has done it every year since her children were born and has kept each of the letters for them to read when they get older.  I basically tear up even as I write out this post because I think that has to be one of the most beautiful ideas.

So, I started this tradition.  I will write both Scarlet and William and any other baby that comes along (not pregnant FYI), little love letters and they will also write their own to the other members of the family.  Here they both are, working on their little project which just absolutely pulls at my heart strings.   I know Scarlet is concentrating EXTRA hard when her tongue gets shaped into a little rosebud.  HA!
At this point, William decided he was done with the homemade Valentines, so he practiced walking around the family room while Scarlet continued on...

Very proud of herself

Then we got into a little bit of chocolate... (she only had two).

haha - just loving life here.

A little chocolate O.D I think...

Then we talked about how when two people are in love they can share a kiss!  She though it was hilarious and then started to kiss her wrist!!!  #helpme

Have a lovely day friends and happy Friday!!!
