House. Updates

Week 9

(Sept 18th - Sept 24th)

It's like that, (pause) and that's the way it is (pause again)...HUH!

Although this wise quotation from none other than the famous rap group: Run DMC brings friendly reminders and truthful thought to the whole notion of surviving life's challenges, I must say, I personally feel as though this poignant lyric is missing a little somethin' somethin'.   Let me explain.

I saw the former picture in some magazine.  As you can see, the photo features a seemingly organized, interesting, fresh and clean BLUE laundry room.  'Hmmmmm, blue' I think to myself as I'm staring at the glossy page.  'Blue is a funky idea colour for a laundry room.  I don't know anyone with that in their house.  I'm going to be the first.  Fresh, light, airy.  There should 't be any issues talking Nate into this'.  So being the lucky woman that I am, after asking him, my amazing husband tilts his head to one side while staring deep into my eyes and responds; 'If you really want to we will'.  The next day, I recruited my mother to come over and help, which she did and the three of us painted the laundry room blue...and then it dried...and then we did a second coat...and then I saw it...and then I decided that I hated it.  It looked hideous.  What the heck was I thinking?  Oh man, the three of us were absolutely killing ourselves over it.   WHORE-EH-BILL!  Big, BIG mistake on my part.

So the next day, I spent some time looking through the paint books and found a nice calm and warm greyish blue or bluish grey, and again, being the lucky woman that I am, Nate tilts his head to one side while staring deep into my eyes and responds; 'If you really want to we will'. So we painted the laundry room that evening.  Thank goodness that hidious blue is gone.  Run, you were right.  You too DMC.  It's like that, and that's the way it is, and I want to add that if you don't like it, than you can change the way it is...HUH!

(hideous blue.  It actually looked way worse in the space)

(baaaad mistake)

(this is obviously the new colour)

(much better, although the colour is much warmer in real life)
